Road to 100: A road to giving 100% of yourself, 100% of the time
Because getting what you want out of life starts with hard truths and identity shifts.
One day, I realized – I’m not operating at 100%.
The crazy thing is… I’m pretty sure I never have.
Even with all of the success I’ve had, I can’t recall giving my all.
I think it’s because no part of life has demanded that of me.
Even growing up and going to school, I knew I could graduate with honors by barely studying.
I knew I had a small body frame so I could still look (somewhat) in shape without exercising regularly.
Things just came naturally to me, and sometimes I wonder if I’ve taken advantage of that.
Now, don’t get me wrong.
I work hard. Very hard.
And I know we go through seasons of life when our efforts are channeled differently. It’s nearly impossible to give 100% to every single area of your life all the time.
But I also know that many days when I go to bed, there’s more that I could’ve done. And before the “you need rest” and the “give yourself grace” police run to the comments… trust me, I do. Baby one thing you ain’t ever got to tell me is to rest. LOL
To clarify, more doesn’t only apply to working, but for my spirituality, my health, my relationships – the list goes on.
Even in the hottest parts of my life, where I’m operating at 90-degrees, or 90%, I somehow find a way to cool myself down.
I recently read a book by Ed Mylett, called The Power of One More, and it shifted how I think about my identity – my life’s temperature.
One of the most profound things that this book taught me is that:
Your internal thermostat sets the conditions of your life. So if you’re a 75-degree person and your results begin to exceed your identity, you will unconsciously turn the air on and cool yourself back down to the temp you are. Your identity regulates your actions and results.
My goal: 100 degrees.
Currently sitting at: 77
Question is… how do I turn up the heat?
Simply put, that’s what this Road to 100 series is all about: steps I’m taking to turn up the heat of my identity, and ultimately, my life.
I’m encouraged in knowing that I’ve been able to get this far in life and I’m not even operating at my fullest potential.
I’m ready to be on fire.
By the way, this takes a lot of self-awareness for me to admit.
You probably found me from a business or productivity video, which led you to make assumptions based on the sides of me that I reveal. Fair. But know that there’s more to me, that I struggle to have it all together sometimes, and that I’m so excited to share these experiences with you!
If you like where this Road to 100 newsletter series is going, check out the new series on my YouTube channel called Wealthy Life Diaries. It’s basically the visual version of this! I’ll be documenting daily actions I’m taking to increase my wealth, health and happiness!
Comment what temperature you’re currently operating at!
